Welcome to Roar.
A dynamic new media platform for Sri Lankans, Roar is the place you come to for quintessentially Sri Lankan content that is credible, accessible, readable, and shareable.
Originally a social content start-up, we initially sought to provide a refreshing new take on content available to Sri Lankan audiences ‒ more nuanced than a blog, but easier to grasp than a newspaper article.
However, we’ve now come a long way from light-hearted content meant for casual reading, and expanded to take on a more serious, journalistic approach. We cover current affairs and social issues, local initiatives and interesting personalities, travel insight and wildlife facts, news from the tech and start-up spheres, and much, much more.
Every day, Roar’s content producers keep a tab on what’s happening across the country, and even around the world, to cater to what we feel best suits the needs of the modern Sri Lankan new media audience.
Our team consists of both staff writers, as well as independent contributors from diverse backgrounds, some specialising in particular areas of interest, others on board because they possess what we promise: the ability to produce strong, vibrant content.
As of now, Roar seeks to bridge gaps between mainstream media and local audiences. Whether it’s a political controversy, a social issue, or even a viral phenomenon, we do our best to look beyond the surface. We give you, wherever possible, insight into the overlooked, analysis into the under-studied, and clearer perspective on myriad issues – all in as authentic and unbiased a manner as can be hoped for.
In short, we’re nothing like anything else out there. Explore our site and you’ll see what we mean.
